Aranui Design Jam

The Aranui Design Jam was a 2-day design workshop with Aranui rangatahi placing young people at the heart of the design process. The project enabled them to participate meaningfully in the design and enhancement of the Aranui streetscape.

Young people from three local schools used a large floor plan of the Aranui area to orient themselves spatially, before discussing ways to improve the streets in their neighbourhood. With the help of urban designers and traffic engineers these young people learned about best practice examples and crafted design solutions to some of the area’s most complex problems.

Outcomes from the Design Jam became part of a Community Event enabling further feedback and iteration from local community.
